Chris Bird has won a “Test of Time” award at FSE this year.

The paper “Latent Social Structure in Open Source Projects”, by Christian Bird, David Pattison, Raissa D’Souza, Vladimir Filkov, and Prem Devanbu has won the “Test of Time” award at FSE this year. This is a major retrospective award, reflecting durable scholarly impact, given at one of the top two conferences (CORE A*) in our field. This incidentally, was Chris’ first major conference paper–he went on to a brilliant career at the Department of Computer Science, and then at “Microsoft Research”. David Pattison was an CS undergraduate at the time.
