Change of Major Appeal for CSE

If you do not satisfy the CSE change of major guidelines, you may appeal by following the procedure below.

The electronic appeal packet (simple text, no attachments) needs to include the information below and emailed to Lori Avellar (avellar@cs.ucdavis.edu):

  • name, student identification number, current major and that your are appealing CSE major
  • cumulative UC GPA and cumulative units completed;
  • UC Davis GPA in the CSE major;
  • listing by course number the courses completed for the major, the grades received, and the name of the institution if the courses were not completed at UC Davis -- for example: ECS 30 (CIS 32, A, American River), ECS 40 (B);
  • quarter-by-quarter academic plan for completion of the major; and
  • letters of recommendation (optional). The letters should be sent to you for inclusion in the electronic appeal packet and not sent directly to the undergraduate adviser.

CSE major courses are defined to be those courses in ECS, engineering, mathematics, statistics and science which satisfy requirements for the major. CSE change of major guidelines: http://www.cs.ucdavis.edu/undergrad/csemajor/declare.html

CSE appeals are reviewed by CUSGA and the College of Engineering Student Relations Committee. You will be notified by electronic mail of the committee's decision regarding the approval/denial of your appeal.

Appeals are accepted only during fall, winter and spring quarters since CSUGA and the Student Relations Committee do not meet during the summer.
