Title: How theoretical quantum computation affects you
Abstract: Almost everyone in science and engineering has heard
something about quantum computation. If serious quantum computers
could be built, then they would be a major new chapter for computer
science in general. But that hasn’t yet happened, so what should we
think now? With reference to my own results and those of others, I
will discuss ways in which theoretical quantum computation affects
complexity theory and cryptography, among other topics.
