Lori Avellar

Undergraduate Program Coordinator and Adviser

Undergraduate adviser for students in the two undergraduate majors administered by the Department: Computer Science (CS) in the College of Letters and Science and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in the College of Engineering; prepares class schedules and course approval forms; coordinates student petitions and exception requests; coordinates quarterly course prerequisite screening for enrolled and waitlisted students, as well as coordination of PTAs (Permission-to-Add numbers); assists with the development and implementation of outreach, recruitment, admissions, and retention efforts for undergraduate students. For the CSE major, coordinator for ongoing review and evaluation by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology [ABET] and Computing Sciences Accreditation Commission [CSAC]. Represents department at outreach and recruitment functions that include, among others, Preview Day, High School Scholars Day, Campus Open House Week, Picnic Day, annual student orientations, and parent/student visitations, and advisor meetings.

Assistant to the Chair/Web & Publications Coordinator

Assistant to the Department Chair and MSO; academic personnel coordinator (appointments, merits/promotions, sabbatical/leave administration), faculty and lecturer recruitments, visas and visitor appointments; department website design, development and editing; print publications design/coordinator; Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP); and alumni relations.

Melinda Curry

Reception and Instructional Support

Reception; undergraduate and graduate instructional support (copying, course evaluations, instructional announcements, room changes, etc.); textbook orders; purchases office supplies for research and instructional labs, faculty, and staff; logs technical reports; maintains copier, fax, and printers; assists with conferences and workshops as needed. Coordinates conference room reservations.

Contract and Grant Manager

Conduct financial analysis and financial planning for research funds. Advises faculty and researchers on processes for business contracts, consulting agreements, matching fund programs, and corporate and private gifts and donations. Provides Pre- and Post-Award grant management assistance to Principal Investigators.

Jessica Stoller, Graduate Program Coordinator

Graduate Group in Computer Science (GGCS) Coordinator and Adviser

Administers Graduate Group in Computer Science and serves as adviser to BS/MS, MS, and PhD graduate students; resource for questions on program requirements, fellowship/scholarship programs, and other funding opportunities; administration of funding in support of new and continuing students; graduate program recruitment and retention; admissions; TA and Reader support; TA training and development; assists with program development, outreach, working professionals program, and program reviews; also serves as part-time adviser for CS and CSE undergraduate majors. Represents department at outreach and recruitment functions.
