Our Mission
The Computational biology and Bioinformatics Group at UC Davis conducts research that spans pattern recognition in genomic, proteomic and metabolomic networks, phylogenetic reconstruction, structural bioinformatics, computational functional genomics, scientific databases and workflows, mathematical modeling and simulation of complex biological systems, computer-aided design of synthetic biological circuits. It employs various methods from computer science, including graph theory, machine learning, linear optimization, stochastic and deterministic modeling.
The group collaborates strongly with other departments, including the department of Plant Biology, Evolution and Ecology, School of Medicine, while a number of its faculty have joint appointments with the UC Davis Genome Center. Prospective students that are interested to pursue graduate studies in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics are encouraged to apply through the department of Computer Science.
