FAQ about submissions and format requirements

Question: Is the 10-page limit for submissions a "hard" limit? Are figures and bibliographies counted?

Answer: A number of people have asked about page limits. The 10-page limit mentioned in the CFP corresponds to the length papers will have when they are in final format in the written proceedings; it will only be loosely enforced in the reviewing process. The rule of thumb is: if the submission is a reasonable length given that the final version must be 10 pages, 2-column format, etc., then it is fine.

So, if your submission is one or two pages longer, but in a less dense format such as 1-column instead of 2-column, that shouldn't be a problem; if your submission is in something like the final format but it slops onto page 11, that shouldn't be a problem; but if your paper is in a dense format and 13 pages long, that might be cause for concern that perhaps you are trying to cover too much ground, and that it may be hard for your final paper to treat the material well.
