Textbook: Michael Sipser, Introduction to the Theory of Computation (2nd Edition), Thomson Course Technology, 2006.

Grading: There will be about four homework assignments: two to be handed in (to the Homework Box in Kemper 86 by *4pm* on the due date) and graded (hw1, hw2, and two for practice only and not turned in (practice1, practice2). There will also be an in-class midterm (closed book, no notes), and a final (closed book, no notes). The grade will be based on the following formula: homework (20%), midterm (30%), final (50%).
