Computer Science Professors Filkov and Devanbu get new NSF award: “EAGER: Effective Detection of Vulnerabilities and Linguistic Stratification in Open Source Software (CNS-1445079)”
The grant will fund collaborative research between computer science and
linguistics (Prof. Aranovich), to explore the correlations between language use
and group dynamics inside Open Source Software development communities,
using natural language processing tools and corpus linguistics methods.
The practical goal of the research program is to find an efficient way to identify
vulnerabilities hidden inside of code, to make computer systems safer
against cyber-attacks. The investigators will receive $300,000 from
NSF, to be spent before October 2016.
