ECS10 - Basic Concepts of Computing

The final is Friday Dec 11, 10:30-12:30, in our regular lecture room, 100 Hunt. Bring a Scantron, a pencil, and any books or papers you like.

We will be hanging out in the lobby of Kemper Hall on Wds 9th and Thurs 10th to answer last-minute questions. Someone will be there from 11AM to 3PM on both days. Drop by!

Office Hour: Wds after class until at least 3:30. 3015 Kemper Hall. The office hour is for administrative issues, grade complaints, and advising, not for help with your programs. For help with programs, go to lab hours where we can use the computers.
Lab Hours: Prof. Amenta will attend Monday Lab Hours.

Textbook:
Python Programming for the Absolute Beginner, by Michael Dawson. Available at the UCD Bookstore, or wherever books are sold online.

Course Overview: This is an introductory computer programming class for students with no prior computer programming background. We will learn the basics of programming using the Python language. The main way you will learn is by writing programs yourself. Some of the programs will analyze interesting data, and some will draw pretty graphics.

Labs: You can work in any of the three computer classrooms were are using for lab hours, 1131 Meyer, 93 Hutchinson, or 2020 Sciences Laboratory Building. Check here to see when these labs are available. Python is also installed in 75 Hutchinson, where you can go to work any time.
