Kwan-Liu Ma is a distinguished professor of computer science at the University of California, Davis, where he leads VIDI Research Group. Professor Ma received his PhD degree in computer science from the University of Utah in 1993. His research interests include visualization, computer graphics, human computer interaction, high-performance computing, and AI-enhanced design. For his significant research accomplishments, Professor Ma has received many recognitions, including the NSF PECASE award in 2000, IEEE Fellow 2012, IEEE VGTC Visualization Technical Achievement Award in 2013. IEEE Visualization Academy in 2019, and ACM Fellow in 2023. He has been actively serving the research community. He previously served as papers/area co-chair for SciVis, InfoVis, EuroVis, PacificVis, Graph Drawing, SC, and ACM CHI, and on the IEEE VIS Steering Committee (2021-2025) and the editorial board of IEEE TVCG (2007-2011) and IEEE CG&A (2007-2019).
