The next interaction step is to form a complete beta sheet by aligning the two partial beta sheets created earlier. In this structure, the first and fourth beta strands will be aligned in a parallel fashion. To this end, the fourth beta strand is selected for interaction, and the two coil regions on either side of the central alpha helix are selected for inverse kinematics. This way, the coil regions inside each of the two partial sheets will not be touched, and the sheets will stay aligned automatically.
