JFLAP 4.0
JFLAP (Java Formal Languages and Automata Package) is a Java-based teaching tool used to illustrate concepts in automata theory.

Download:
You can download this package at http://cgi.cs.duke.edu/~rodger/jflap.cgi. First submit a quick survey, then on the next page click on JFLAP source. The package is bundled into JAR file, called JFLAP.jar. The latest version of JFLAP was updated on 07/01/05.
Launch:
You will need Java 1.4 properly installed before running JFLAP. If you have an older version installed, please check Sun's Java pages for download and installation. To start JFLAP, just double click on the icon JFLAP.jar. Instructions on how to run JFLAP on differnt OS is available here.

Run:
After launching JFLAP, a menu panel (as shown on the right) will show up.
This menu is used for selecting which type of machine to construct.
After selction, a window (as shown below) will pop up.
This window allows users to graphically construct/edit a machine
and do conversion, testing on the mahcine. For more information on JFLAP,
please check the JFLAP website at
http://www.jflap.org.
After using JFLAP, please
participate
in a study on the effectiveness of JFLAP.
